Cherokee Purple Heirloom Tomato
Heirloom. Cherokee Purple seeds, originating from Tennessee, are thought to have been passed down from Native Americans of the Cherokee tribe. This heirloom tomato variety consistently ranks very high in taste tests. Slice Cherokee Purple tomato for rich, dark color and unmatched sweet, rich taste on sandwiches or in salads. The tomato is a beautiful dusky pink with a deep, rich-red interior. Cherokee Purple grows well in most regions of the U.S. Let the fruit ripen on the vine for the best flavor. Corno di Toros Sweet PepperGrower: Rutherford Farm (Certified Naturally Grown)

Delicious Italian frying peppers.
An early, productive, and great-tasting duo. Bred to create an eye-catching display at market, we created this pair with striking color contrast and matching silhouettes. Carmen and Escamillo represent a burgeoning pepper class for market growers: the Corno di Toro or “bull’s horn” pepper type. Our breeding work on carmine-red ‘Carmen’ was inspired by the fiery gypsy in the French opera of the same name. Carmen soon took the market by storm for its earliness, dependability, and great flavor. We quickly set to work breeding a companion, golden ‘Escamillo,’ which matches Carmen in flavor and beauty. Versatile and tasty any way you eat them — raw, cooked, sliced, diced, sautéed, stuffed, and especially fire-roasted, which caramelizes the sugars and elevates them to a whole new level of delicious! Both AAS award-winning peppers were bred by retired Johnny’s breeder and AAS Breeder’s Cup award winner Janika Eckert.

FAVORITE ELDERBERRIES FOR BEAUTIFYING THE GARDEN
Don’t just grow elderberries for the edible fruit. These tough and adaptable shrubs can also be surprisingly beautiful landscape plants.

Elton John may sing about “feeling fine on elderberry wine,” but the shrub that bears that intoxicating fruit offers many other attributes that gardeners can feel good about.
You may have seen elderberries laden with clusters of dark purple berries growing in the wild along roadsides, woodlands and streambanks, but never considered growing them yourself. “Unfortunately, few people think of the elderberry as an ornamental shrub that would bring beauty to their property,” says Sandy Helsel, of the Herb Society of America. “Today there are numerous cultivars with attractive foliage in green, near black, or yellow and flowers in white, pink, or gold. All can be attractive additions to the garden.”
In addition to their ornamental qualities, they are a valuable contributor to the ecosystem. Providing food and shelter for many species of songbirds and nectar for pollinating insects, elderberries can turn any garden into a beautiful wildlife sanctuary.
